Rotary Exchange Student Roni Corby speaks about her 12 month Austrian Experience
Our guest speaker for the September 10 evening was Roni Corby was sponsored by the Bairnsdale Rotary Club last year to be an exchange student to Austria. She stayed with 3 different host families and went to a professional sports school.  Despite some audio-visual technology problems, Roni presented a very informative talk minus the visuals.  School over there starts at 7.40am and finishes at 1pm, as they don't have long recesses and breaks. Instead of students moving from class to class the students stay in their allocated room for all classes and the teachers come to them. Roni travelled extensively while there, visiting Italy, Rome, Berlin and Venice, just to mention a few places. She became an accomplished skier and is now fluent in German. Being an exchange student has been a wonderful experience and will impact on Roni's life in many ways for many years to come.

Rotarian Lorna is joined by RJCA participant Teagan and Exchange Student Roni (also a RJCA graduate) and their mums following the meeting.
